THE SOUNDS OF THE DOLOMITES - DAWN AT COL MARGHERITA - PASSO SAN PELLEGRINO
04.09.2025 - 04.09.2025
SUNRISE IN THE DOLOMITES 6:00 a.m.nbsp;
Special Project: a century-long journey: music resists war, humanity resists barbarism.nbsp;
"And meanwhile, we play"
from an idea by Mario Brunello and Alessandro Baricco, and featuring a composition by Giovanni Sollima
music by Malek Jandali and Arisha Samsamina
text by Eleonora Sottili and Emiliano Poddi for the Holden School
"And meanwhile, we play" is a choral and orchestral work, it is a journey into memory and a careful look at our present. At its centre are music, war, peace, silence, and smaller and larger acts of resistance against barbarism. And still there is defeat and rebirth. A journey into the short period from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day, through the words that soldier Alessandro Silvestri committed to his diaries. Music was his salvation amid the bestiality of war, and here it becomes a way to pursue personal stories, to move between words and sounds and then return, or rather go to a place where the word "war" is not simply a memory but is still a raw reality. A place where music is still mixed with the deafening sound of gunfire and explosions. All this is through the work of an amazing group of renowned actors and musicians, and the inclusion of some extraordinary music such as Giovanni Sollima's "Diaspora", which was specially composed for this project.
How to get here:nbsp;from Passo San Pellegrino by the Col Margherita cable car, specially operating from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. (max. 1,300 people per hour), and then a 20-minute downhill walk with a 100-metre change in height.
Tickets for the cable car (at the special price of € 10 return) are on sale from 11 July, either at the cable car ticket office or at Moena Tourist Offices. The Panorampass is worth having.
Alternative venue in the event of bad weather: Navalge Theatre, Moena at 5:30 p.m.
